My Dream Office Space: Burnham Design

I am so excited today I can't stand it...I am going to my first Interior Design class at the Corcoran in Georgetown!!! I can't wait to be in a room with a bunch of people who like to talk about design for 5 hours straight!!

One day, many years from now I would love to work at a super cool design firm like Burnham Design!

If you have ever redone your home office and searched for inspirational images...most likely you saved the following image as one of your favorites!

Well it is no surprise that this infamous office is home to Burnham Design! Here are more pics of their office space. Seriously I love every inch!

Who is behind this fabulous office? Betsy Burnham is the principal designer and founder of Burnham Design. Originally from the east coast (she graduated from Dartmouth) Burnham's design philosophy includes an "unapologetic mix, that layers pattern, texture and periods." According to her website profile, Betsy is addicted to accessories, loves menswear-inspired fabrics and fervently believes in mixing thrift with couture!

Betsy Burnham totally rocks! Check out some of her other spaces below:

Sheryl Crow's lovely HH home in Architectural Digest

Hi friends & family,

Sorry for the scattered posts last week, it was a rough one to say the very least...plus add in an earthquake and hurricane and work madness and it was almost too much for one person to take :)

But I am back and energized. I have my first interior design class at the Corcoran this Wednesday and I am over the moon!!

But in the meantime, I thought I'd start of the week with pics of forever low-key Sheryl Crow's Hollywood Hills estate (yes estate, she owns 11 acres and 3 adjoining homes in the Hills). It is eclectic with major nods toward a Spanish heritage...but still modern and romantic.

You know I am a sucker for white walls and black framed windows...you just can't go wrong. Everything you add to the room after this looks fabulous!! I loved that she collected all of this over her travels and didn't use a designer. It looks perfectly collected, and edited.

I would give my right arm (okay maybe not literally my arm) to be laying in that hammock with a good  book and a sweet tea right now!

My New Obsession: Picker Sisters!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm going to let you in on my newest obsession, a TV show called Picker Sisters on Lifetime!

It stars two L.A. based interior designers, Tanya McQueen and Tracy Hutson (you might recognize them from Extreme Makeover--Home Edition) who are absolutely beautiful, hilarious and talented!!!

These best friends get their personally designed U-haul and truck from L.A. to the backwoods of Texas, Louisiana, etc in search of junk treasurers they can haul back to L.A. and reinvent into fabulous rustic design pieces.

Not only are they so funny it's ridiculous, it's fun to watch how the middle of nowhere farmers interact and befriend these two crazy girls. And the pieces they fix up are out of this world.

I watched 5 shows this weekend and I am totally hooked! So far they've dipped a '73 Harley Davidson motorcycle in gold and turned it into a console table, made a carerra marble powder room sink out of a meat (yes that kind of meat) saw, and used 1500 lbs of chain link for a coffee table.

This show has given me inspiration to maybe start collecting my own treasured junk and selling it on Etsy...stay tuned.

Designer Crush: Chris Barrett Design

Happy Friday! I can not tell you how excited I am to chill in my own home this weekend...it's been a little over a month since I've been home on a weekend and I definitely miss it! But in the meantime...

I came across the work of California designer, Chris Barrett a couple weeks ago and was blown away by her work.

Chris Barrett Design is inspired at its roots by the brilliant light and clean sensibility of the California landscape.

You can see how in every space, Barrett tries to tie into the beautiful outdoors.

Ciao, have a great weekend!!!

Small cool apartments

Every year Apartment therapy does a "Small, Cool" contest where readers from all over submit their apartments for either the teeny-tiny, tiny, little, and small categories.

I love seeing how creative city-folk can be with such limited space. The nice thing about having a small space is you only have to invest in a few great pieces to really make an impact.
