Relax at Courtney Cox's house

So I just had to share Courtney Cox's new Malibu Beach home featured in this month's Elle Decor magazine.

According to Elle Decor, The midcentury structure sits high above the Pacific on two acres that include guest cottages, a tennis house and court, a screening room, and a saltwater swimming pool.
Her previous home, designed by groundbreaking modernist architect John Lautner.

Says Cox, "The curvy, futuristic, Lautner-designed residence was “the most amazing place I’ve ever lived in,” she says. “But there was no way to replicate that. You don’t want to half-ass a Lautner house. So I decided with this house to go a completely different route. I wanted it to look like a modern barn.”

Her house is a soothing mix of whites, light gray, charcoal and pops of violet and berry. It's the perfect blend of contemporary finishes with old-world accents.

Check out the beautiful photos from Photographer Simon Upton below.

Don't you already feel more relaxed??

I love this--it's irreverent, charming and funny. I love that Courtney Cox doesn't seem to take life too seriously!

I want these light pendants!

I Dream of Bathroom Tile

On Friday night Ryan and I had dinner in the design district (aka Cady's Alley) of Georgetown. Staring into WaterWorks and what used to be Ann Sacks as I ate sea bass and sipped on German beer I started dreaming about what my tragic bathroom could one day look like.

Our bathroom currently has white vintage tile floors--which I love. But the problem is it's impossible to get back to a white that looks clean--which literally drives me crazy every single day.

In my new bathroom, I would love to keep a vintage-looking tile, but maybe in a color/pattern that can age well. That plus classic white subway tile and I'd be a happy girl!

Here are some shots of my favorite bathroom floor tiles...

In case you want to see what my tragic little bathroom looks like see below...first it's the only full bathroom in our house (we will eventually add a shower to the downstairs bathroom), second it has weird jet streams in the tub...and for the tri-fecta of tragedy...the golden shower doors straight from the 60's-70's.

The positives? I painted the vanity black and put vintage glass knobs on the drawers...hmm I've already run out of nice thins to say about my bathroom :)

Million Dollar Decorator "After" Spaces

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone relaxes and enjoys the warm weather this weekend--I know I will!

Today I wanted to leave you with some stunning photos from Bravo TV's Million Dollar Decorators. Now I've said it before, this over the top--more is more design strategy is not always my cup of tea--but if you love design you can't hep but appreciate the overall grandeur and fabulous detail that these spaces turn into.

Check out some pics below.

Ciao!

Not Your Mama's Wallpaper

When most people hear wallpaper they cringe and have immediate thoughts of old floral wallpaper that takes about a year to peel off leaving grime and residue forever on your walls :)

However, wallpaper is back in a big way--and has been for a couple years. But fear not, this is not your mother's wallpaper. Not only are the patterns graphic and modern but they are 100% easier to apply and remove.

One day when I renovate my bathroom (finally) I would love to add a great wallpaper to the top half of the walls. I also think the smaller the room, the bolder the wallpaper.

Check out some great wallpapered spaces below (House & Home)
